Badges
“Scouting Through The Obstacles” currently has 18-all original badges. They have been divided into three levels-scouting one, two, and three which progressively get more changeling for the scouts as they go through the program. We like to expose our scouts to different fields. Each level of scouting has one badge from each category: life skill, art, culinary, STEM, active, and outdoor. Please explore below.

Hello Badge.
Starting a conversation can be challenging. Knowing how to say that first “hello” is not always easy. Luckily, there are many tips and tricks to help. This badge teaches scouts the basics of a good conversation and how to make a great first impression.

Marine Science Badge.
So much is waiting to be explored in the ocean. It is home to many species of plants and animals. This badge takes scouts underwater and teaches them the science behind it all. They will also discover the effects that humans are having on marine life.

Meditation Badge.
Meditation focuses on improving mental, emotional, and physical strength. It enhances mindfulness and is a great stress reliever. This badge teaches scouts about the advantages that come with it and provides them with an opportunity to perform some.

Just Desserts Badge.
Desserts are so sweet to eat...they are even sweeter to make! There are plenty of dessert recipes that do not require any baking knowledge. This badge teaches scouts some sweet culinary tips and gives them the chance to make a delicious treat.

Outdoor Explorer 1 Badge.
Outdoor explorers are adventurous leaders that understand the importance of planning. They know what they’ll need and do before going to explore. This badge teaches scouts the ins and outs of planning and preparing for their own outdoor adventure.

Upcycle Artist Badge.
Upcycling is repurposing materials that are often thrown away. Not only is it a unique way to create one-of-a-kind works of art, but it also helps the environment. This badge gets scouts creative juices flowing and teaches them about the wonders of upcycling.

First Aid Badge.
First aid is an essential life skill to have. Injuries can happen anywhere at any time, so everyone should be familiar with it. This badge teaches scouts some first aid tips & tricks and gives them an opportunity to practice those skills.

Architecture Badge.
Architecture draws upon many fields of knowledge — planning, design, and even writing. It also enhances critical thinking skills. This badge teaches scouts the basics of architecture and gives them a chance to bring their imagination to life.

Karate Badge.
Karate is a type of martial arts that focuses on developing physical and mental strength. It also teaches self-discipline and improves concentration. This badge gives scouts an introductory lesson into the art of karate.

Farm-To-Table Badge.
Farm-to-table promotes cooking and eating locally grown foods. Many people have been taking on this phenomenon by starting a vegetable garden. This badge provides scouts with an opportunity to experience farm-to-table with a fun, hands-on approach.

Outdoor Explorer 2 Badge
The outdoors is fascinating! So much is waiting to be seen and discovered: plants, animals, natural features-adventure truly awaits. This badge will take scouts outside to explore the great outdoors through hiking.

Sculpting Badge.
Sculpting is an art that uses materials to build three-dimensional structures. It promotes the use of kinetics, enhances motor skills, and is a great way to express creativity. This badge provides scouts with an opportunity to plan and build their own sculpture.

Learning how to manage money is a must! Not only does it instill independence and responsibility, but financial literacy will be used in everyday life. This badge teaches scouts the ins and outs of how and when to spend their money.

The non-abstract concrete concepts that are applied in programming make it a great skill to learn. It teaches problem-solving, critical thinking, and persistence. This badge helps scouts learn the basics of programming.

Teamwork is the collaborative effort towards a common goal. It fosters friendships, promotes inclusivity, encourages trust, and develops social skills. This badge will help scouts understand the importance of working with others.

Outdoor Cooking Badge.
Outdoor cooking is an adventure that takes you outside your cooking comfort zone. It brings people together and is a fun way to have a meal. This badge takes scouts into the great outdoors while testing their culinary abilities.

Outdoor Explorer 3 Badge
Now that you have completed Outdoor Explorer 1 and Outdoor Explorer 2 it is time to take on the ultimate outdoor challenge and go for a campout. This badge teaches scouts the foundations of camping and gives them an opportunity to explore nature further.

Drama Badge.
Drama is an art that allows for plenty of collaboration. It builds social skills, teaches public speaking, and boosts confidence. This badge provides scouts with an opportunity to put on a production and helps them learn the part they could play!
